The Gunners are on the verge of a £15million swoop for the Russia ace.
But it remains to be seen whether they can complete their move for the Zenit St Petersburg forward before the transfer window slams shut on Monday.
Wenger said: “There is nothing new on Arshavin.
“The deal is maybe 90 per cent completed. However, the final 10 per cent of any deal can be the most difficult.
Hopefully we can sign Arshavin. But I believe the toughest part is about the wage of Arshavin. He’s currently earning £100,000 a week and I think we can only give a maximum £ 80,000 a week.If he really wanted to join us he should have no problem with it.But if he can’t,then he will wait for a better offer from other clubs.

This means the only barrier that separate us with Arshavin is twenty million pounds.I don’t really sure if he’s really a good player but he have some pros and cons.
Pros:
1.He’s at his prime age
2.He’s an experienced player
Cons:
1.He’s not an EPL player before
2.His stamina is questionable
He’s 28 years old,the prime age of a football player. So,we can just buy and use him the next day. There’s no need to have a 34543 days of training or missed chances.
Besides,he had played in prestige championship such as World Cup and that will help a lot when the pressure comes on us.
But,he haven’t played in EPL before and we don’t know if he can adapt to EPL’s playing style which is fast, physical and quite unpredictable.
About his stamina,I don’t really know but some say he has quite a poor stamina.Could anyone verify it?
After all pros and cons,I think he is right player for us,provided the price is right.
