Chelsea 2-0 Arsenal match report

February 8th, 2010

As expected,we suffered another titan defeat two times in a row.

I didn’t watch the match but from what my friend told me,our defeat was quite similar to our defeat in our own backyard.Blues won because their defense is stable, their possession is stable and there’s Drogba to kill us off,yet again.

But at least we got most of our tough matches played off and this fact will prove our advantage in the end game.Although we are 9 points behind the leader, but to get Chelsea to drop 9 points isn’t too hard considering the competitiveness of the league.Besides, ball is round and anyone can go up or down at anytime.

We will need to raise our morale to play the improving Liverpool this Chinese New Year. And since we got better record against Liverpool, our morale should be better too.At home,no less….

Arsenal 1-3 Man. United

January 31st, 2010

That was pathetic to watch. We were beaten in terms of everything.

United’s first goal was a lucky one.Nani’s shot was truly beautiful but I doubt he can do that in every game.

But United’s second goal was down to our defending fault. No one marked Rooney and all of our defenders was too focused on the crosser itself. Our style was not bad considering we were trying to get the ball back. But it’s like a formation that is empty inside;if it’s broken then it’s game over.

Arshavin’s finishing was very poor and we only made few on-target shots. The rest were rubbish.

We gained equality in possession but we lost badly in quality of possession.United’s defense was rock solid but it’s poor firing squad that made United’s defense looked that solid.

In the second half,it was game over.United only needed to play safely to bring three points home.

Enough of my rantings.I need to take a rest now.

Aston Villa 0-0 Arsenal

January 27th, 2010

We failed to win the match and we slipped to third place.

Although our title bid seems to fade right now,but if we compare our result with Chelsea’s and Liverpool’s game at Villa Park, that’s quite good considering Chelsea and Liverpool got away with no points.Villa should have won the game if not for Almunia’s alertness throughout the game.

The worst news is however, the Vermalen’s injury. He injured his fibula and will be definitely out for Devils clash this weekend. We are now not sure how long he will be out.Hopefully the injury will be the light one.

Let’s see Wenger’s comment about this match:

On Aston Villa…
“They play a very efficient English game, with long balls and it is very physical. They are a good side at counter attacking. When we took the gamble to go forward and they won the ball, they are quick and that is why it was always us managing to create chances and score, or them catching us on the counter attack or playing on Agbonlahor or Heskey with long balls.”

He’s correct. What’s caught the other Big Four was the sudden counter-attack by O’Neil’s squad.Even Devils succumbed to a defeat at Old Trafford because of such a play.Villa’s tactic against the big teams is to play solid at the defense and try to score through counter-attacks.

On if he would be happy to replace Vermaelen with Sol Campbell should he need to on Sunday…
“Sol has not played for six months and just in three days he had two big games, so I will have to see how he recovers.”

The phrase he in “how he recovers” seems to refer to Vermalen, although I think he refers to Campbell himself.Campbell should be good enough against smaller teams but our next three games seem like too heavy for him to take after carrying 6 months of dust.Perhaps if he can clean all those dust in this three days he can make something.

Stoke City 3-1 Arsenal

January 24th, 2010

Perhaps this result is not too bad,and it’s not surprising that we lost the game.

I only watched Stoke’s first goal in the second minute. It’s quite the same story with our 2-1 defeat last year.Delap’s powerful throw was converted into a goal when Fuller utilized his chance to make Stoke in front in just two minutes.

That’s the only stuff I could write right now.I will watch the highlights later.

Arsenal 4-2 Bolton

January 20th, 2010

Arsenal:Rosicky 44 , Fabregas 53, Vermalen 65, Arshavin 85
Bolton:Cahill 6 , Taylor 28(pen)

Arsenal goes to the top of the table now after quite a long time.We just made it to the first spot.

But I can’t comment really much since I didn’t watch the game.I will download the highlights and see how the lads played.

Despite the fact that we were resilient and made a fantastic comeback,we must address the fact that our defense is quite porous if it is compared to Devils’ and Blues’.2 goals conceded at home is quite an error and we must address it properly.

I would like to comment on le Boss’s post match comments:

on William Gallas‘ challenge before the equaliser…
I am sorry if the tackle was not good, really. There are two things I have heard just now: one, that he [Owen Coyle] was not happy with the tackle, and I am sorry if the tackle was not a good one. I apologise for that. The second thing, that he [Coyle] was not happy that we carried on playing, I think that is unfair because the players who went on, they did not know what was happening behind. When the player went down, they did not know if he got up again because when you win the ball you go forward, you don’t know what is happening behind you. That is why I don’t believe you can kick the ball out every time a player is down when you win the ball. That means every time you win the ball when you are 2-1 down, every time a player goes down you have to kick the ball out – it’s impossible. That’s why they changed the rule.

I have to say Bolton wasn’t lucky in this case. The tackle happened to be the critical point of the game.No more comments…

on hearing the Arsenal fans cheering Davies’ injury…
Of course, we don’t want that. I believe always we are responsible for our behaviour whatever happens anywhere else.

I don’t support such a Gooners’ reaction.Don’t do things you don’t want people to do to you!!I’m not sure if I made grammar mistake from that sentence.Feel free to correct my error if there’s any.

By hook or by crook,we won the game and that’s important before we face our tough matches a week later.
