December 23rd, 2009

Since there’s no match until this weekend,I will post some news that I have some comments on.

1.Van Persie could be out until May

Persie will miss the majority of the rest of this season.

“If you are very positive you would say [he'll be back in] April,” said the Frenchman. “If you’re a bit cautious you say May. It is virtually the rest of the season.

“Personally I thought  let’s put in my head that he will not play again this season and hope that I will have a good surprise.

I think Wenger asks us to forget about him this season. If Persie manages to play towards the end of this season, that’s a plus for us.If not,it’s OK.Although this fact is cruel for us,it has already happened and mourning about it is like crying over spilled milk. We’re used to players’ injuries anyway. We always get our players injured in season’s climax.

2.O’Neil:Football has gone crazy

“It is crazy. When you’re in a situation where you’ve been given a job to do and you’ve been given money, that’s fine. But because you’ve been given money, it doesn’t mean you’re going to win the next game 6-0, it just doesn’t happen.

“In any other industry you’d be given time to do the job.But football is not like any other industry and more so than ever before, you have less time than ever. There’s less patience around.

There’s a lot of impatience among the club owners. They give managers money, and they expect the manager to win every games in the season.Money is something, but it’s not everything.Money is just one of the ingredients for success in football;you need patience, time and a lot of thing to be successful.

However,Mark Hughes is not the man to manage a big team like Man. City.He needs more experience to manage such teams. His purchase of Bellamy,Adebayor and Robinho was a mistake, and it’s a costly one. These three players are good, but they don’t worth hundreds of pounds.A manager can’t spend all of his club’s money to get a player just because he likes that player.

Thankfully,Arsenal owner is more patient and Wenger don’t spend unnecessarily. That’s why we are still fine today.Although we won nothing in last four years,we  managed to stay in top four and kept growing with limited resources.

Although Chelsea dropped points at Upton Park yesterday,it still extends its lead over runner-up Manchester United thanks to Fulham’s 3-0 victory over the Devils. The victory also means that Devils’ lead over Arsenal is only two points now with a game in Arsenal’s hand.

Gunners is the only smiling Big Four last weekend as it is the only team that collected all the three points last weekend.Aston Villa,Man. City and Tottenham keep the pressure on title rivals with their win over Stoke,Sunderland and Blackburn respectively.However,Man. City’s 4-3 win over Sunderland failed to stop owner Sheikh Mansor to sack Mark Hughes.Man. City hence brings in a new manager Mancini,an ex-Inter Milan manager to replace Mark Hughes.

Birmingham’s 1-1 draw with Everton brings down Blues to seventh place, but it is enough to put Blues above mighty Reds by a point.Reds’ unconvincing form this season continues to beleaguer Benitez’s squad.Reds’ lads 2-0 defeat over Portsmouth proves that their problem is getting  from serious to worse.Masherano’s red-card liability adds salt to Reds’ wounds.Consequently,Liverpool slips to eighth place, and 8 points behind fourth placed A.Villa.

Wolves’ player rotation strategy seems to work with its 2-0 victory over Burnley. However,Wolves’ player rotation strategy could put BPL’s teams intergrity in risk if every team follows its tactics.Imagine if teams like Burnley put reserves in away games against Big Four. That’s automatic 3 points for Big Fours!!!I do hope Wolves will play reserves in Emirates,so we can play our reserves as well. Our first-team can concentrate on bigger games like C.League games and away games. How good is that for the Big Four!!!

Arsenal 3-0 Hull City

December 19th, 2009

3rd place,3 goals,3 points. That’s the summation of this victory. If we win our game in hand,we could be in second place.

However,Gunners didn’t cruise to the victory as Tigers gave us a good fight throughout the game. The game’s pace started to pick up only in the first-half’s additional time when there’re some real fight between the players. The fight started when Nasri “knocked” one of Hull’s players and Hull’s players came to push Nasri around.Consequently,Arsenal’s Nasri and Hull’s Zayatte got a yellow card each.

However, the free-kick given to us proved decisive when Denilson kicked the ball past the ball as well as goalkeeper to give Gunners a 1-0 lead before the first-half ended.

In second-half,the game continued in high gear as both teams attacked and defended against each other.Tigers was close to get their equalizer when Silvestre pulled Fagan’s clothes in the penalty box and penalty kick was awarded to Hull. However,Geovarni’s penalty-kick was easily saved by Almunia.

Geovarni’s missed chance was punished just three minutes later when Eduardo easily popped the ball from  Arshavin’s cross into Hull’s net to make Gunners lead by 2 goals to nil. From that on,Hull’s hope to wrest at least a point looked microscopic.

Gunners continued their possession and got a lot of chances from their created play and build-up.However,there’s only one goal was produced when Arshavin’s pass managed to reach Diaby’s foot. The goalkeeper managed to held Diaby’s shot but the ball’s force still strong enough to put itself to the net and confirmed Arsenal’s 3 points from this game.

A good game for us I must say.Almunia should get Man Of the Match for his save against Geovarni’s penalty kick.Had he failed to save the penalty, the game could go against us.

This weekend is a good weekend too for us.Although we don’t manage to get rid of Aston Villa and rival Spur’s pressure on us,but we managed to close the gap between us and Devils.Devils’ 3-0 defeat at Craven Cottage means that we are just 2 points behind Man United with a game in hand. That’s bang on on our title race.

Can Hull upset Arsenal again in Emirates?

History

Hull’s last trip to Emirates has been a memorable one;Hull came from behind to beat Gunners 2-1 in The Grooves, and Gunners suffered their second defeat in Emirates back in that time.

From that game,Gunners’ season onward was nothing to shout about. We suffered more draws and defeats and finished fourth last season.

Heated word exchanges

Even before the match, there’re already exchange of words between managers Arsene and Brown. When Wenger complained about the fixtures schedule,Phil Brown quickly blasted Wenger and told Wenger to stop complaining about fixtures schedule.

Players

Our captain Fabregas is ruled out for 10 days and is unavailable for this match. He will most probably unavailable for Aston Villa game too.But the good news is Denilson is back again.Other than Denilson and Fabregas,no one is listed nor delisted in our injuries list.
