Portsmouth 1-4 Arsenal

December 31st, 2009

Portsmouth:Belhadj 73
Arsenal:Eduardo 27 ,Nasri 41 Ramsey 68 Song 81

Gunners kept their pressure on title rivals with another three points,as well as added three goal difference.

Although the scoreline looked demolishing, but Gunners worked hard to get their three points. The rest is bonus. We did better in our finishing hence we took our chances better.

I have better say about this game by commenting on Wenger’s quote.

“Tonight we showed a physical response in the first half when they made it very physical. In midfield we were really up for it and dominated physically.

I didn’t see any physical play from Pompey actually, and judging from the amount of red card given,Pompey didn’t go physical with us.

“Ramsey was very good.”

He’s not just good;he’s superb in his third goal. What a class finish in his third goal.I want to see more goals like this.I want to see more goals.51 goals is not enough…

On being four points ahead of fourth place…

“It’s not enough because we have a four-point gap with Chelsea as well. I think it’s completely open. What is interesting this season is that, from Chelsea to Man City or even Liverpool, everybody could still be in there. It will be very interesting because every weekend you will wonder who will drop points.”

ActuallyArsenal is just six points ahead from money loaded Man. City and if we are not careful,we too could finish outside top four.So beware!!!

The League is just so unpredictable.Villa looked among the favorite for the title but two games later,it seems to be out of form and out of top four.

But Liverpool will really have to struggle to get into top four now with Villa,Tottenham and City wrestling for the top four.

Can Portsmouth upset on-form Gunners?

Players

Fabregas is definitely out for this match, but Rosicky could make his way to this game after he has recovered from his hamstring injury.

On the other hand,Avram Grant will hope his African players could play this match before they depart for African Nations.

With Villa’s lost against Liverpool,Tottenham and Man. City turn to be our most fierceful tailgator.

Arsenal 3-0 Aston Villa

December 27th, 2009

Arsenal:Fabregas 65, 81 Diaby 90
A.Villa:-

ONE faboulous free kick,2 Fabregas goal and 3 fabolous points. That’s the summation of this game for Gunners.

But the first-half of the game did not suggest such quotes.Although Gunners took the driver seat, but Villa’s compact defense let us down.On the other hand,Villa’s striking force seemed blunt and our back four had little struggle to overcome that.

That situation ended in 65th minute when substitute Fabregas popped in a free-kick to make Gunners lead with 1-0.That goal opened up the game and the real battle has just begun.

Although so,Villa’s attack remained blunt and Gunner’s defenders surprisingly still had little struggle although they received more attacks from Villa.

Villa focused too much on attack and that brought disaster when Gunners counter-attacked on Villa’s left wing.Walcott’s pace brought something and that something was converted into 2-0 lead with a fine finish by Fabregas. That goal made Arsenal’s 3 points almost secure.

However,Fabregas started to limp after that goal and he was out again as a precaution.

A minute after 90th minute,Diaby nailed the Villa’s coffin when his strike made it’s way into the net. That goal summed a warning to title rivals that Gunners is still in the title race.

Highlights coming soon!!!!

Will Villa complete Big Four bashing on Sunday?

Third-place fight

Should Villa beat Arsenal,it will complete the Big Four bashing and wrest the third place from Gunners.

If Arsenal beat Villa,Arsenal will have some breathing space and will be on the way to keep the pressure on United and Chelsea which play away games against Hull and Birmingham respectively.

Similarity between Wenger and O’Neil

Both managers are similar in a way they develop players and their exercise of patience towards their team development.Rome isn’t built in a day,and success isn’t developed in a game.

They are unlike Chelsea and Man. City which will spend exhorbitant amount of money to buy instant success. They prefer to use time and patience to mould a success that can last long and will not harm the club financially.

Their patience finally manage to get some fruits.Arsenal is now in third place and if it wins its game in hand,Gunners is in second place.Villa on the other hand has cracked into fourth spot and has cracked full nine points out of their last three matches.

Players

Fabregas is 70/30 for this match. If all go well then he could play;if not,he has to miss this game.Other than our captain, there’s no players in and out from injury treatment. All of  Gunners playing against Hull last week should be available for this game.

Premier League analysis 25/12/09

Here’re the fixtures this weekend;

Saturday
Can Mancini bring City to Top Four??

Birmingham vs. Chelsea
Fulham vs. Tottenham
West Ham vs. Portsmouth
Burnley vs. Bolton
Man. City vs. Stoke
Sunderland vs. Everton
Wigan vs. Blackburn
Liverpool vs. Wolves

Sunday

Arsenal vs. A.Villa
Hull vs. Man. United

This weekend marks the beginning of Boxing Day matches. All teams will play at least 3 matches next week.

Chelsea will visit Birmingham at St. Andrews for an tricky away game.Anelka is injured until January and therefore unavailable in this away game. However,Drogba and Kalou will be able to hold Chelsea’s attacking guns in this game before they leave Chelsea for African Nations Tournament.

Spurs is looking to take advantage from Arsenal vs. A.Villa match, when one of teams must drop points and therefore Spurs must promote to top four should it beats Fulham in Craven Cottage.Fulham on the other hand,is looking to get into top eight if Birmingham loses against Chelsea. With Fulham’s confidence booming with 3-0 bashing against Devils last week,it will not be easy for Spurs to break into fourth place.

Top two BPL’s points droppers West Ham and Portsmouth will lock horns against each other in Boleyn Ground to keep themselves out from relegation zone.Same goes to Burnley and Bolton who play each other to prevent themselves to fall into relegation zone.

New City’s manager Mancini will test himself in money-loaded machine when Man. City faces Stoke City tomorrow.Hull City will try its best to prevent another defeat when facing Manchester United this Sunday.Perhaps they will try to emulate Fulham, but I don’t think Hull can snatch victory.

Next week will determine whether Gunners is still the title contender or it is only a Champions League spot contender.Same goes to other title rivals.New City’s manager Mancini too will have hard time should his team still can’t perform under him.
