Black Cat ended Gunners’ unbeaten run for 13 games
A goal from Darren Bent was enough to stop Arsenal from getting any point from Stadium of Light.Even Gunners’ goal machine scored an average of 3 goals per game, the machine just couldn’t break Black Cat’s defense.
To be frank,we didn’t deserve to win nor we deserve to lose. But lady luck was with the host.Arsenal couldn’t score a goal from the first-half;that’s a symptom of trouble in Gunners’ game.Although Arsenal was in the driving seat, but Sunderland did spring some surprises from their counter-attacks but Malbranque wasted his only two chances to get ahead before the first-half.Arsenal’s attack on the other hand, did create some beautiful chances but our finishing just wasn’t as good as theirs during game against Everton and Blackburn.
The mode of the game wasn’t changed much in second-half of the game until after 60th minute;Arshavin substituted Ramsey and there’s more attack from Arsenal’s side. But it was Sunderland who got a goal in 70th minute when Frazier banged a cross from Reid’s corner and Darren Bent was there in front of Gunnners’ goal to ensure they got in front with a goal lead.
Worried with a goal down,Wenger brought Vela and Walcott to speed up Gunners’ pace. But Sunderland’s good defending made sure that the score-line didn’t change and Sunderland’s 1-0 lead stayed until the final whistle.
Sunderland did well in this game especially their defense department. They really fought for the possession, strived for attacking chances and the combination of these two outstanding points made BPL’s top scorer team scored nothing in Stadium of Light.
